Adventure is out there...

The Giving Tree - Shel Silverstein

This book is super sweet! A tree that loves a little boy that grows up into a man, gives everything it possibly can for him. I would use this around the time of the 100 days of school. Create a giving tree in the classroom and we work towards 100 acts of kindness. Add each on a leaf.

The Napping House - Audrey Wood, Don Wood

The Napping House is a silly book about multiple characters trying to sleep. The illustrations are so vivid and perfectly designed.

I would use this book for sequencing, a bedtime/naptime story, or a story time story with puppets.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Other Stories - Lewis Carroll

Alice in Wonderland is a classic tale about a girl who enters a whole new world through a rabbit hole. She is trying to find her way home but she gets sucked into her own curiosity. On her journey she finds many friends and discovers new possibilities.

I would use this book starting in 3rd grade. I would use it in a Wonder unit or even as a free read when there is free time in between classes.

Winnie-the-Pooh - Ernest H. Shepard, A.A. Milne

Guided Reading Level: R

This is a classic tale that brings in imagination and creativity. I would read this as an ongoing circle time book. I may give the opportunity to hold "reading buddies" while we read. Christopher Robin goes on many adventures with his friends learning about caring ,sharing, and friendship.
